WestRidge, Thorndike Development’s newest Active Adult
condominium community in Hudson, Massachusetts, continues to expand.
Fully designed and under construction, the new two-story Meeting House
will act as a “Lifestyle Center”. The building includes a fire-placed
great room, an exercise facility, a pool complex and smaller gathering
rooms and overlooks the adjacent 5-acre meadow and forest.
WestRidge is a 146 home 55+ community organized under the
principles of Traditional Neighborhood Design. The core concept of TND
is to create a 1) village center, 2) village neighborhood and 3)
village edge. When the WestRidge Meeting House is complete, the whole
“Village Center”, including the Village Green and Post Office, will
also be complete.
According to Maribeth Boisvert, WestRidge Sales Manager,
this new building was designed after listening to the desires of people
who are ready for the next chapter of their lives. “The Meeting House
is truly a Lifestyle Center and will facilitate bringing people
together who want to have a good time, who are ready for the ‘party
years’” said Maribeth.
The 4,500 square foot Meeting House will have two floors.
The first floor will include a grand entrance that looks through to the
stone fireplace in a large gathering area. In addition, there will
be a business center with WiFi, an exercise area, and full service
kitchen. Accessible from the first floor will be a wide veranda and
deck overlooking the pool and the meadow beyond. This space will be
perfect for relaxation and conversation with neighbors, family and
friends.
The lower level will house the pool facilities, including
changing and storage rooms, as well as a manager’s office. The 50 foot
long pool is designed for lap swimming and for sitting along the
in-water bench during the heat of summer.
WestRidge has already received an award for “Innovative Land
Planning” and the cascading of the Village Green, to the Meeting House
Deck, to the Pool, to the five acre meadow and lastly the forest edge
is a fine example of that notion. A Spring 2009 opening is expected for
the Meeting House, but the community is ready right now. Call
