All of a sudden, buyers are back!
In a bit of a rejection of the news in the marketplace, Thorndike has seen an across the board increase in traffic at their three major developments. In the last month, Thorndike’s neighborhoods have sold seven new detached homes, three at the Pinehills, two at Red Mill Village and two at WestRidge.
“Some years, but not all, there is a burst of a ‘December Market’”, said Gretchen Buitta, Sales Manager at Red Mill Village. “I think people realize that they want to get their lives organized before the New Year and look forward to spending time in their new home when the warm weather comes back. This is certainly true this year.”
The sales of the Thorndike homes occur against a back drop of volatile economic news. While interest rates are low and dropping, some people are concerned about the mortgage markets. While homes are still at very high equity values, the relatively low percentage drop in prices concerns some people. The Thorndike sales staff has found that some people are tired of waiting and want to get on with their lives.
At Thorndike’s development at The Pinehills, the three sales came in rapid fire, according to Paula Araiza, Sales Manager. “All of a sudden, one buyer pulled the trigger and two others did not want to be shut out. It is a buyer’s market and our houses are priced to sell. Buyers are smart these days, but sometimes they want to make sure that they are making the right decision. When one deal goes through, confidence increases.”
In affirmation of Thorndike’s belief in the upcoming market, they are rolling out a new ad campaign in The Boston Globe. Entitled “Standing the Test of Time”, the campaign focuses on quality and value over time.
The first ad has a picture of an elegant conch shell with the text: “Nature has built some of the most elegant homes on the planet. We’ve built the rest. Thorndike.” A bit cheeky? Perhaps. But more, this campaign represents an awareness that Thorndike’s homes and communities are among the best in the business.
Thorndike has won 14 national awards and 34 regional awards, so the confidence in their own product is not just bragging.
When there is an increase of uncertainty in a market, there is a so-called “flight to quality.” The Thorndike team wants you to think of quality, elegance, longevity and value when you decide that the time is right. With prices low and quality high, value is at its peak.
Whether a beautiful golf course home at The Pinehills, or an elegant new single family home at the active adult community of Red Mill Village, or the wonderfully laid out homesites at Westridge, Thorndike has the right place for you and now, at the right time.
